Quotes From Monroe
"As a hitter, I feel like I can hit every pitch. That's my attitude, and I kind of say, 'You hit your way to the big leagues.' If I feel like I can go the other way on a ball outside, I go that way. If it's in, I pull it." — Monroe in May of 2006

Home Run Facts
On August 16, 2005, Craig Monroe hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 10th inning at Comerica Park against the Red Sox. The Tigers still lost the game, 10-7. The Red Sox had scored seven runs in the top of the inning. According to research by SABR members David Vincent and Mike Webber, it's one of just four times in baseball history that a player has hit a grand slam in extra-innings and his team has still lost. The others are Andre Dawson (1991), Mike Vail (1979), and Cy Williams (1925). Monroe is the first player to do it in the American League.
