The Only Nolan
A pitching phenom out of Paterson, New Jersey, Edward Nolan earned the flamboyant nickname "The Only" Nolan. He baffled overmatched batters with his overhand "drop-curve," one of the first ever seen. He turned pro at the age of 20, but never enjoyed much success, as he pitched for mostly losing teams. His final career mark was 23-52 in parts of five seasons.
