According to Tom Zocco of SABR, Rick Rhoden's seven three-hit games are the most by a pitcher in the DH-era (1973 to the present).

Strengths

Rhoden was an excellent hitting pitcher. On June 11, 1988, the Yankees used him as a designated hitter on a day when he was not pitching. Rhoden went 0-for-1 with a sacrifice fly batting in the 7th spot in manager Billy Martin's lineup.
