Nate Robertson

Prior to his major league debut, Nate Robertson's prescription goggles were broken, forcing him to wear his reading glasses on the mound. Robertson lost that start for the Marlins, but he stayed in the big leagues and established himself as a dependable, gritty starting pitcher. In 2006, as the upstart Tigers pushed their way to the post-season, Robertson started throwing wads of bubble gum into his cheeks to spur Detroit rallies late in games.
