Jimmy Ryan
With his compact right-handed swing, Jimmy Ryan was one of baseball's best sluggers of the late 1880s and early 1890s. He paced the National League in hits, doubles, total bases, and homers during his career, and was often among the league leaders in batting,retiring with a .306 mark. A vocal player, Ryan helped instigate the revolt which led to the Players' League, and was a outspoken supporter of players' rights and organization. He belted 20 leadoff home runs, a record at the time of his retirement.
