The Tragic Death of Snuffy Stirnweiss
This from baseball historian and author Gabriel Schechter:

"[Stirnweiss] was a businessman living in New Jersey. He wasn't scheduled to go to his NYC office on September 15, 1958, but he did want to go into the city for some reason. He was late catching the train in Red Bank but managed to board the train after it was already moving. Not long after, the train started across a bridge that had its drawbridge up, failed to stop, and plunged into the river. Nearly 50 people were killed, including Stirnweiss."
