Jim Thome

A middle-round draft pick, Jim Thome exhibited a powerful stroke immediately, but took more than five years to mature into a big league hitter. He clubbed 20 homers for the Indians in strike-shortened 1994, the first of 11 consecutive seasons of 20 or more. A fixture in the middle of the talented Cleveland lineup of the mid-1990s, Thome was almost certain to do one of three things each time he entered the batters' box: walk, strike out, or hit a homer. He did the latter 17 times for the Tribe in the post-season, helping the team to a pair of pennants.
