Intro

A promising young outfielder in the Orioles organization, switch-hitting Mike Young finished fifth in 1984 Rookie of the Year voting when he hit 17 homers. He socked 28 more his second season, heating up in August when he drove in 32 runs and launched 11 longballs. After a trade to the National League, Young never again enjoyed the same success, and was out of baseball after eight seasons.

Factoid 1

On May 28, 1987, Mike Young became the fifth player in major league history to hit two extra-inning home runs in the same game. The Orioles' outfielder homered in the 10th to tie the score, and again in the 12th to defeat the Angels.
